Maysville Elementary School has been awarded over thirty-one thousand dollars by the Georgia Department of Education for the Leader In Me Grant, the state announced last week.
Maysville will receive a total of $31,769.82 for the grant, which is focused on assisting schools and districts by building leadership and life skills in students and staff members by creating a high-trust culture and accelerating academic achievement. Maysville principal Dr. Katie Warwick said she has started sharing ideas from the grant with staff as they begin to implement the program within the school.
The Jackson County School System saw an increase in scores from the End of Grade testing conducted at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year. The State of Georgia released the scores Friday.
Students take Georgia Milestones End of Grade tests in grades three through eight and End of Course tests in four high school courses.

School and district-leaders from within the Jackson County School System visited local industry leaders from Jackson County during a leadership retreat on Friday, June 9.
The retreat started Friday morning with 74 leaders visiting six industrial leaders. The goal of the retreat was for leaders to gain a better understanding of the industry located in Jackson County and the opportunities that are available after graduation for the over 10,000 students within the Jackson County School System.

Maysville Elementary announces Kelli Hall as the new assistant principal. Mrs. Hall will begin in her new position starting with the upcoming 2023-24 school year.
Hall is currently an Instructional Coach at Oakwood Elementary School in Hall County, but stated she is thrilled to be joining Maysville Elementary and Jackson County Schools after she has lived in the community for the past two years.
