Media Center Mission

We will inspire curiosity, strengthen critical thinking, and promote media literacy skills for all students and staff.

Media Center Vision

We envision a media program where literacy is the cornerstone for creating a learning environment in which inclusivity, critical thinking, and collaboration thrive, technology is responsibly leveraged, and patrons reach their highest potential.

  • Circulation Policy

Students are encouraged to come to the Maysville Media Center as often as they would like (and their teacher allows) to borrow books for their reading pleasure and instructional needs.

PreK - at this time do not visit the media center on a regular schedule, but will occasionally enjoy a story time.
Kindergarten and 1st- students are allowed to check out 1 book at a time
2nd-3rd grade students are allowed to check out 2 books at a time
4th -5th grade students are allowed to check out 3 books at a time

Books are checked out to students for a two-week period. At the end of two weeks, books should be either returned or brought in and checked out again. Books that have been checked out for 1 month and not renewed will be considered lost. Students must return, renew, or pay for the lost book before additional books are checked out. (Please look for the book!! We would rather have the book than the money to replace the book!)

Please remember that liquid is a book's worst enemy. Water bottles or drinks do not belong inside the bookbag where books and homework will get wet. Please remind students to store them in the outside pockets or carry them.

Students are strongly encouraged to find a "safe place" at home to keep their library books whenever they are not reading them. They are told to always put their book back in the same safe place (or their bookbag) every time and to tell their parent or guardian where this "safe place" is. Parents, please be sure you discuss this with your child. If the book is always returned to this "safe place", no one will have to search for the book when it is time to return it. When you are deciding on a "safe place", be sure it is easy for your child to get to - after all the purpose of checking out the book is to READ it!

Parents, if you move your child to a new school during the school year, be sure MES library books, classroom books, and textbooks are returned before withdrawing your child.
  • Wondering if MES has a certain book? Use the MES Destiny Catalog link below to search. Destiny is our digital catalog of resources.  You can use Destiny to explore the books we have in the library as well as our collection of eBooks.

Please note that the eBook and audiobook titles listed in our Maysville Elementary Destiny Library Catalog may include some titles that are available only to our middle and high school students.  Elementary students only have access to check out and read print and digital books that are a part of our elementary collection.
