Welcome to the Maysville Elementary School Pre-K program! Georgia Early Learning Development Standards (GELDS) are used to make every moment with your child a learning opportunity. The GELDS are aligned with the Kindergarten Common Core Georgia Performance Standards. Our Pre-K program reflects an understanding of how children learn by emphasizing active learning, consistent daily routines, and the use of positive behavioral management and assessment strategies. The school readiness goals of our Pre-K program provide appropriate experiences emphasizing growth in language and literacy, math concepts, science, social studies, arts, physical development, and social and emotional competence. We look forward to an amazing year in Pre-K!

Welcome to Kindergarten at Maysville Elementary!
Welcome to kindergarten at Maysville Elementary. Kindergarten lays the groundwork for important foundational skills. Academically, students grow tremendously in their reading, writing and math skills over the course of this pivotal year. In addition to academics, students learn to relate appropriately to their peers. For some students, kindergarten is their first school experience and it is our goal to foster a positive learning environment in which they develop a lifelong love of learning. We look forward to guiding each student to his or her highest potential this year!

Welcome to First Grade at Maysville Elementary!
Welcome to First Grade. First grade is all about love of one another, a love for learning, and building a classroom community that will learn and thrive. A classroom community refers to the level of respect and kindness that your students show to each other. Here is where our students come together as a class to work towards the common goal of learning. We want our students to feel valued and connected to the teachers and to other students in the class. This grade is a very important time to lay the foundation for the years ahead and together we will strive to make this a successful learning experience.
Sincerely,
Ms. Vang, Ms. Corrigan and Ms. Gailey.

Welcome to Third Grade at Maysville Elementary!
Welcome to 3rd Grade! Some things we will explore this year include Regions of Georgia, Branches of Government, Native Americans and the European Explorers. Third Grade is also the year for multiplication mastery, 3-digit addition and subtraction fluency, and foundation of fractions. We will continue to grow into stronger readers and writers as we discover strategies to improve our skills and enhance our love of literacy. Third grade is where the transition of “learning to read” changes to “reading to learn”. We will build our classroom community using the teachings from our Social Emotional Learning program - The 7 Mindsets. In third grade, EVERYTHING is POSSIBLE!!

Welcome to Specials at Maysville Elementary! At MES, students are given amazing opportunities to learn, play, create, and grow through Art, Music, PE, STEAM, and the Media Center. Our goal in Specials is to provide every student with meaningful, hands-on experiences that connect to their learning and spark curiosity. Whether they’re building in STEAM, reading in the library, performing in music, creating in art, or staying active in PE, students are encouraged to think critically, communicate effectively, and collaborate with others. Each of our special area classes offers a space where students can shine, and we hope they leave each one more inspired and excited about learning than when they arrived.

Welcome to ESOL at Maysville Elementary. ESOL stands for English to Speakers of Other Languages. This program seeks to support students in gaining English language proficiency (ELP) in the following domains: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension. The goal is to provide students with the opportunity to develop the academic language skills needed in their content classes as well as supporting them socially at school and outside of school. As students make gains in developing their ELP, their sense of self-efficacy increases paving the way for academic success.

Maysville Elementary School is committed to accelerating student learning and meeting the needs of the whole child. The Early Intervention Program is a key component to provide additional instructional support and resources to help eligible students. EIP is an integral part of the instructional support framework at MES.
